2011 in review

Time to start journaling again…it’s been more than a year! In 2011 I’ve changed states from Texas to Florida, left my spiritual desert behind for the oasis, left a job that I began to dread going to for one that I enjoy. I am privileged to call South Bay Church my new church home and place of ministry as the youth pastor. Thank you God! I’ve listening to some great music by Adele, Needtobreathe, Switchfoot, Civil Wars, Shane & Shane, and newcomer Josh Garrels. I saw an entertaining and clean (which is harder to come by these days) movie in the Muppet Movie in theaters. I became a fan of Tim Tebow, started drinking coffee regularly, ordered fish at a restaurant, grew a beard, enjoyed a book by A.W. Tozer (a new favorite), and I’m now the proud owner of season 1 of the t.v. show LOST.

It’s been quite the year. I’ve learned more about God’s faithfulness, and His timing verses my own. I continue to marvel at His provision for me and my family, and His patience to love me when I whine and continue to question His goodness. God you are good! Your mercies endure forever! They are new every morning! You are faithful to the end! I love you and look forward to learning how to stop and hear your voice more often. Continue to help me think of myself less and others more. I want to want your presence more than anything else I could obtain or desire. Lead me with strong hands so that I can lead my wife and kids, and those who serve in COLLIDE here at South Bay Church.

I allow you to stretch me and mold me more into your image. I choose your will over my comfort and ask for a courageousness that borders on craziness. I want to pray reckless prayers to a God who loves with reckless abandon and act immediately upon what I hear from you. I teach my kids that delayed obedience is disobedience, teach me how to practice what I preach. I want to be more intentional in how I spend and save the money you give me stewardship of. I want to take better care of my body by being diligent to eat well, exercise, and sleep healing hours. I lean on you in my many weaknesses and rely on your Spirit to guide me to truth. Be near!
