The little blessings to get you through it...

Well, lest you think I'm always in the dumps when I post here I wanted to share with ya'll a good week I had, and it was all work related (go figure) I was blessed by several people this week: two co-workers and a couple that came to shop in the music department. I had a co-worker bless me with the Newsboys cd Born Again because she knew I wanted it but wasn't going to be able to afford it, and then another co-worker gave me $10 to go and get myself a meal at Whataburger cause I'd been craving it all night at work. Then to top it all off I helped a couple find some music and they bought the Brandon Heath and gave it to me just to encourage me. Thanks everybody! You made this week an encouraging one for me, and I hope to pay that forward in any small way I can.

Clogged

My life feels like my bathtub right now, clogged and taking a long time to drain. I'm trying to find encouragement in the little things but it's so much easy to be pessimistic and bitter. My study of the book of Romans gave me another thing to wrestle with today.

Chapter 9 is all about God's Sovereign choice. Verse 15 says "I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose." Later in verse 18 it says, "So you see, God chooses to show mercy to some, and he chooses to harden the hearts of others so they refuse to listen." I've always struggled with this passage and in days like today when I feel like a clogged up bathtub that I feel more like Pharoah than a chosen one.
